Best practice in climate change adaptation – are you climate ready?
Building resilience to climate change is a must for all organisations to ensure that your assets, operations, staff and customers can stand up to the impacts of extreme weather now and in the future. Climate Sense has teamed up with JBA to offer training on best practice in climate change adaptation incorporating the requirements of the first standard to be published in this area: ISO14090 (adaptation to climate change – principles, requirements and guidelines). The training also brings in aspects of the recently published ISO 14091 (adaption to climate change – guidelines on vulnerability, impacts and risk assessment).
There’s a free online course to introduce you to the concepts of ISO14090 and then a structured three module programme to fully bring you up to speed on all requirements and build your organisation’s capacity to meet these. Future course dates can be found here.
Earlier this year we ran a successful introductory course with Canadian public sector organisations and JBA colleagues which was welcomed and valued by attendees.
"I feel much more knowledgeable about what is in the standard, the language used (e.g. shall, may etc) and why the elements are in there"
"Great to have presentations from those involved in the development of the standard."
"The course was excellent and the trainers were extremely knowledgeable. The examples were useful throughout the two days and the content and interaction kept my attention throughout."
The training will enable you to understand your current resilience, identify current and future climate risks, and make a start on or improve your adaptation planning within the framework of the internationally recognised standard. Interaction is maximised and the training focuses on how you can apply the concepts to your own experience, wherever you are located, and whatever sector you work in, whilst understanding what others have done through the use of case studies.
